Residents of Tacoma (Pierce County’s largest city) are lucky to have access to so many different Farmer’s Markets throughout the spring, summer, and fall. There are four farmers markets in total, including the 6th Avenue Market, the South Tacoma Market, the Downtown Tacoma Market, and the Proctor Farmers Market. They all happen on different days of the week, which means residents of Tacoma and the surrounding area can enjoy fresh food, produce, baked goods, and other food items almost every day of the week!
The Proctor Farmer’s Market will be held 9am-2pm every Saturday starting on the last Saturday of March to the Saturday before Christmas. The Proctor Farmers Market provides the community with fresh, locally grown farm products while providing area growers with a venue for their crops and products. The Proctor Farmers market is located in the heart of downtown Proctor.
Downtown Tacoma Farmers Market (Broadway Market) - South 9th St. & Broadway Tacoma
The Downtown Tacoma Farmers Market is open from 10am-3pm on Thursdays from May – October. This market is Tacoma’s original and longest-standing farmers market. The vendors include Washington farmers, fisherman, plant growers, bakers, cheese makers, specialty food producers and many different kinds of artists. This market is not only as the place to meet for lunch on Thursday, it also offers education about healthy living through live chef demonstrations, gardening clinics and even live music and entertainment. A great place to stop by and have lunch on a sunny day!
6th Avenue Farmers Market - 6th Ave & N. Pine St Tacoma
The sixth avenue farmers market is a small neighborhood market located in Tacoma’s thriving 6th Avenue Business District. The market is on Tuesday’s from 3pm-7pm from May to September. The later hours make this market a popular choice for commuters and folks who work till 5- but still packs a large variety of delicious choices!
This is the South Tacoma Farmer’s Market’s first year at it’s new location at Metro Parks’ new Star Center on South 66th Street. This market is open on Sundays from 11am-3pm June through September. You will find a diverse selection of local fruits, vegetables, flowers, meats, bakery products, specialty food items and handcrafted arts. This market is held at the community center, so there are lots of options for entertainment including the baseball fields and live entertainment.
