Vintage yBuilt in 1909, the Vintage Y was the original YMCA in Tacoma. Located in the Theater District in Tacoma, the Vintage Y is and has been a wonderful part of the Tacoma community. Surrounded by the lively and convenient downtown area, the Y is a perfect choice for vibrant living.

The building itself is over 100 years old, but the Vintage Y features a gym and a weight room with new equipment. A community deck is located on the roof of the garage (which provides secure parking) and even has BBQ facilities. There is an annual party in the summer for all owners. The building has a tax abatement in effect, so the taxes are very minimal. Dues are based on square footage and are average for downtown condos.

Residents love that there’s a great park across the street— it offers the perfect opportunity for taking dogs around for a walk (dogs and cats are permitted in the building). There was weekly outdoor concerts mid-day last summer and the plan is to have that continue. box lunches were available at Over The Moon. As the building is in the Theater District, it’s of course nearby the historic Pantages and Rialto theaters— just a block away, in fact. Also a mere block away is Opera Alley, a lovely street with the romantic restaurant (even voted “best of”), Over the Moon Cafe and B Sharp Coffee. B Sharp offers live jazz music on Friday and Saturday night along with wine and beer. As you can tell, Opera Alley makes for the perfect date night! Near the Vintage Y are also the much-loved Puget Sound Pizza, The Mix, Maxwells, The Harmon Pub & The Hub. Great local shopping options are also nearby— Giraffe & Dwelling offer wonderful interior decor and furniture options.

As far as getting around goes, in addition to the walkability of the area, the light rail runs from 9th & Broadway and has multiple stops on the way until the line ends at the Tacoma Dome. The access to downtown restaurants, museums and shops the rail provides is certainly a perk!
